
Joe Coleman, 66, of Pana, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born March 11, 1959, in Pana, he was the son of the late Morris J. and Wilma (Overby) Coleman. Joe married Annette Riley, and they later divorced; she survives him in Pana. Joe was a dedicated entrepreneur, owning Joe Coleman & Son Environmental Services, Joe Coleman Salvage & Demolition, and Whiskey Bill’s Saloon and Liquor Emporium. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, Eagles, Elks, Moose Lodge, and a 25-year member of the Shriners.
Known as “Papa Joe” to many, he was a generous and humble man who took great pride in his family and community. He adored his son, Zach, and his grandchildren, and he loved sharing his passion for cars. His Corvette collection and The Corvette Shed were sources of joy, and he frequently opened it for community benefits and special events.
Joe is survived by his son, Zach (Katie) Coleman; grandchildren, Clayton, Elcie, and Wyatt Coleman; special children, Bridgett, Abby, Lizey, Chad, and Levi; special grandchildren, Cayden, Kynlie, Parker, Presley, Saylor, Lenny, Lexi, Addilyn, Easton, Liv, Izzy, and Addie; sisters, Linda Paden and Debra (Lamar) Embry; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Brett “Brent” Henschen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Morrissey and Billy O. Coleman. Private family services will be held, with a Celebration of Life on Friday, November 14, at 5 p.m. at The Corvette Shed in Pana. Memorials in his honor may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children through McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
